Whose Wedding is it Anyway? / What’s for Pudding?
This double-bill of plays was performed in June 2007 to full houses. We once again scored a hit as the Market Hall rang with laughter on both nights when these two comedies were performed to very appreciative audiences.
The first play, (What’s For Pudding? by David Tristram ), focussed on a couple bored with life and each other. An uproarious family comedy: marital disharmony, visit from the
neighbours, searching for new trousers, drunken wives, and a forgotten anniversary all conspire to ignite an already inflammatory situation, and certainly make an entertaining play performed with the usual style and verve.
Whose Wedding is it Anyway? by Margaret
Bower, the second one, featured two snobby sisters trying to keep their mother’s upcoming second marriage under the carpet to who they think is an Italian waiter – but of course he isn’t. Mother is aided and abetted by her sherry-drinking charlady. But Mother’s got a secret that only the two of them know – he’s very rich … and she’s already married him!
Both plays had quite small casts which showed off the versatility of the small company, and particularly of the two actors who were in both plays. Again
the cast and directors were ably assisted by the small backstage crew who, together with front-of-house, make up the company.
